What is your perfect day?

Today I would like to invite you to day-dream, to really pick your own brains, access your soul, and imagine, without restrictions, external expectations or real-life limitations, what your perfect day would look like.

At what time would you wake up? Would you spend some time in bed or jump out of it straight away, buzzing with excitement? Who would you be with? What would you eat and where? Would it be a slow day or a day filled with activities? Would it be about really giving attention and time to the simple things you already do but tend to rush through or would you do something totally different? Perhaps something you have always wanted to do but never find a way to make it work?

Now how would you feel, in the end of your favourite day, when you lay in bed? In what way did that day contribute to your mindset and well-being and why? Can you identify the core needs you fulfilled? Examples of these could be connection with your loved ones, or freedom to express yourself without restrictions or judgement, or feeling like you contributed positively to something that is relevant to you, or the simple, primal feeling of safety?

Can you replicate that exact day in your current circumstances? If so, great! Try making a commitment to yourself to live that day as many times as you can, write it in your diary, make it a priority.

If you can’t, that’s ok. Think of activities that are realistic to your current situation and will fulfil the same needs you identified earlier. Make a plan to fit those in your life as much as you can, stick to it!

I believe that everyone has the right to live a life that is truly magical to them. However, in the midst of our everyday pressure to succeed and achieve, it is easy to live fast, without considering what it is that really makes our soul smile, but how is that living at all? 

When we shift from a mindset of letting life happen to us to taking responsibility for the way we engage with the world, we start, step by step, understanding ourselves, what works for us and designing a reality that serves us. That, in my opinion, is what pure joy is made of.
